WESSA (the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa) Northern Areas Region (NAR) has a mission to implement high impact environmental and conservation projects that promote public participation in caring for the Earth.

Saving the Wildlife

of the Magaliesberg

WESSA NAR and Tshwane University of Technology's department of Nature Conservation launch wildlife programme in the Magaliesberg

This follows the dramatic rescue of Brandy, the pregnant leopard, snared on the mountain, captured, nursed back to health and released back into the Magaliesberg. Leopard is one of the Big 5 on the doorstep of Pretoria.. By managing the leopard population, we will be able to manage other animal species on the mountain and restore ecological balance in the region, The programme involves WESSA’s NAR committee, volunteers, interns and senior students in Nature Conservation from TUT and is aimed at managing the rich biodiversity of the Magaliesberg mountain range.
